A young Egyptian wife filed for divorce from her husband in front of a family court judge, claiming that living together had become impossible due to her husband's hygiene habits. She stated that he only bathed once a month and did not consistently brush his teeth.
In her testimony to the judge, the wife explained that she married her husband in a traditional ceremony three years ago. She noted that during their engagement, she did not observe any issues with his personal hygiene, as he always appeared well-groomed during visits, which increased her admiration for him.
However, she revealed that after their marriage, she found her husband negligent in maintaining his personal cleanliness, leading to foul odors that repelled her, making it unpleasant to be near him. Initially, she felt embarrassed to urge him to take better care of his hygiene, but the situation escalated to the point where he bathed only once a month.
Desperate, the wife attempted to encourage him to improve his hygiene, but her efforts were in vain, leading to frequent arguments over the same issue. Additionally, she mentioned that he was not interested in working and relied entirely on her salary. Unable to tolerate living with him under these conditions, the wife turned to the family court to file for divorce.
