In Lebanon: Man Killed by His Wife and Her Brother Over Plans to Marry a Second Woman

The Directorate General of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement: "On 25/2/2022, in the town of Zahle, (A.R., born in 1989, Syrian nationality) reported the disappearance of her husband (A.H., born in 1987, Syrian nationality), who had lost contact since 20/2/2022.

Immediately, the specialized units of the Information Division started procedures to uncover the fate of the missing person. As a result of intensive field follow-up, suspicion arose regarding the involvement of the above-mentioned wife in his disappearance, in collaboration with her brother (A.R., born in 2003, Syrian nationality). Orders were given for the division's patrols to bring in the wife and locate her brother for arrest as swiftly as possible.

On 1/3/2022, after careful monitoring, one of the division’s patrols was able to arrest (A.R.) in the town of Bar Elias inside one of the camps, while the wife was arrested at her home in the Al-Muallaqa area.

During interrogation, both confessed to the premeditated murder of the victim (A.H.), revealing that they struck him on the head with a sharp object while he was sleeping and subsequently stabbed him multiple times with a knife. They then disposed of his body in a hole they had prepared earlier, motivated by the wife's knowledge of the victim's intention to marry a second woman, in addition to his ongoing abuse and beating of their children.

The appropriate legal measures were taken against them, and they were referred to the competent authority based on judicial directives."
