Twitter: We're Working on Adding a Tweet Editing Feature

Twitter stated that it has been working on adding a tweet editing feature since last year and will test it with selected members of Twitter Blue in the coming months. This news, first sparked by Twitter on April 1, comes as the company faces broader changes after Elon Musk became its largest shareholder and joined the board following questions about the platform's commitment to free speech. On Monday, Musk revealed that he owns a 9.2% stake in Twitter and started a poll regarding this long-awaited feature the company is developing. However, Twitter mentioned in a tweet that it did not derive the idea for the editing feature from the poll initiated by Musk. Twitter's CEO, Parag Agrawal, urged users to "vote carefully." Jay Sullivan, Twitter's head of consumer products, tweeted that the company has been working on the editing option since last year, calling it "the most requested feature on Twitter for many years." Sullivan added that this feature will take time to refine, noting that "without elements like time limits, controls, and transparency about what has been edited, editing could be misused to alter the record of public conversation." Subscribers to Twitter Blue enjoy exclusive features for a monthly subscription.
