The Pharaohs controlled the ball during the first half, creating a series of missed chances due to the outstanding performance of goalkeeper Mohammed Mustafa. The only goal came from a powerful header by defender Mohammed Abdel-Moneim in the 36th minute. The "Crows of Jediane" attempted to make a comeback in the second half with an early attacking pressure, but to no avail due to the solid defensive organization of coach Carlos Queiroz's team and the alertness of goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy. With this victory, Egypt qualifies for the second round after securing second place with 6 points, behind Nigeria, who topped the group with a perfect 9 points.
