Despite the numerous health benefits of tea, improper consumption can pose health risks, as confirmed by Dr. Farhad Islami, a leading researcher at the American Cancer Society (ACS). Dr. Islami stated that drinking more than 700 ml of tea at temperatures exceeding 60 degrees Celsius every day increases the risk of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma by approximately 90%, according to the "medikforum" website.
The Russian news agency "Sputnik" quoted Dr. Islami, who said it can be concluded that consuming any hot beverages—not just tea—can lead to such consequences. He urged those who drink very hot tea to get used to waiting for it to cool slightly and become warm. He added, "This risk occurs among those who have an excessive love for tea and drink more than ten cups daily, as this beverage contains tannins that can interfere with iron absorption, potentially leading to iron deficiency in the body."
