Saber Rebaï on Hassan Shakosh's Singing: Closer to Female Singers

Tunisian artist Saber Rebaï stated that the vocal range of festival performer Hassan Shakosh is not found in many male artists, as it resembles the vocal range of women. He added during an interview on the program "Habr Sirri" with host Asma Ibrahim on "Cairo and the People" channel, that Shakosh's voice is high and closer to that of a woman than a man, believing that his capabilities are not available in all voices.

Rebaï refrained from commenting on the decision made by the Musicians Syndicate to suspend Shakosh, saying: "I do not intervene in matters that do not concern me, and we need to see the main reason for his ban from singing. When the syndicate head Hani Shakir makes such a serious and decisive decision, there must be a reason."

The artist rejected the idea of mocking Hassan Shakosh's singing of the song "Atahad Al-Alam." He clarified, after a clip of Shakosh singing was shown during the "Laugh You Lose" segment, that there is nothing laugh-worthy about seeing Hassan Shakosh perform. He added that he does not see Shakosh making a joke in the video and highly appreciates the idea of another person singing for him. He noted that his opinion is separate from singing techniques, but he acknowledges that Hassan Shakosh performed the song in his own way.

Saber Rebaï confirmed that he does not know the lyrics to the song "Bint El Giran" and hummed its melody, emphasizing that he respects what Hassan Shakosh offers. He pointed out that Shakosh possesses vocal capabilities that may not be available to some male singers due to his ability to reach high pitches rarely found in a male singer, making his voice’s capabilities closer to those of female singers. He noted that while Shakosh may not excel in singing the "qarar" (low part), he does reach the "jawab" (high part), which is not available in some voices.
