Minister: No Increase in Travel Ticket Prices

Minister of Public Works and Transport in the caretaker government, Ali Hamiyeh, commented on the decision to charge an exit fee for travelers in cash dollars starting from August 12. He stated, "What we were collecting in Lebanese pounds, we will now collect in dollars... It was 50,000 LBP, which is equivalent to one and a half dollars now." In an interview with "Al-Jadeed" channel, he emphasized that "this is included in the travel ticket price, and there is no increase on it." He noted that "this decision will generate funds for the state treasury."

Referring to circular number 22/2 dated 11/8/2022 related to the collection of the exit fee for travelers through Rafic Hariri International Airport - Beirut in exclusively cash US dollars for all travel tickets issued starting from 12/8/2022, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation confirmed that no additional exit fee has been added for travelers. Instead, the collection of these fees, which airlines already collect from travelers in cash dollars, will now be paid by those airlines to the public treasury in cash dollars only. Consequently, departing passengers through Rafic Hariri International Airport - Beirut are not subject to any additional departure fees.
