The Emirati artist Ahlam expressed her surprise at the new updates from the social media platform WhatsApp.
Ahlam Al Shamsi questioned whether her followers would continue to use it or not, in a tweet she published on her personal page on Twitter, asking: "Who among you is thinking of deleting WhatsApp?"
According to speculations from some followers, the Emirati artist Ahlam may be on her way to stopping her use of the messaging app "WhatsApp," following the uproar caused by the company's announcement of new terms of use that involve a violation of user privacy.
Ahlam's audience was divided between those who supported abandoning the service and those who opposed it. Additionally, Emirati media personality Mariam Bin Fahd commented on Ahlam's tweet with a sarcastic question, saying, "Who thinks of deleting the people's news agency?" Meanwhile, activist Abdulaziz Al Saleh wrote, "If they do not maintain privacy, everyone will delete it."
It is worth noting that the new terms of use for "WhatsApp" allow for the sharing of some user data with "Facebook," which owns the app, and include provisions for advertising interactions, storing massive amounts of user data and activities to share with the Facebook group.
