# The Reason the Super League Failed!

The English Premier League issued an official statement today, Wednesday, praising the decision of the six major clubs in the Premier League to withdraw from the European Super League. Clubs "Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal, and Chelsea" withdrew from the Super League, followed by Atletico Madrid and the three Italian clubs: Milan, Inter, and Juventus.

The Premier League stated: "The English Premier League welcomes the decision made by six clubs in the Premier League to withdraw from the European Super League. With widespread opposition both domestically and internationally, including from UEFA, these divisive proposals threatened the sporting principles at the top of football."

It continued: "It is clear that the pyramid must be protected above all else. The Super League failed partly due to the distorted and unfair financial distribution model, which is also a criticism that can be directed at the current financial model in our domestic game. The league hopes that this same enthusiasm will be immediately directed towards achieving suitable and desperately needed changes in the distribution of wealth in our local league competitions."

The statement added: "Around the world, people inside and outside the game spoke out upon the announcement of the establishment of the Super League, and UEFA was pleased with the response. We remain proud to be part of a unified football system that encourages open competition, gives everyone a chance to dream, and continues to inspire generations of youth in the communities from which our clubs take their names."

It concluded: "We will work with all parties to push for this reform. Through economic restructuring, we can support all clubs in achieving a sustainable future and promote the principles that many have fought for. The reforms should also consider the restructuring of UEFA's Champions League, which poses an existential threat to our competitions, including the League Cup that provides vital income for Premier League clubs and serves as a breeding ground for future stars."
