The time was early Friday morning, and the location was a village in the Fayoum Governorate, Egypt. A horrific crime left seven victims, as the perpetrator failed in his suicide attempt afterward. In the village of Al-Gharq, part of the Itsa Center in Fayoum, a tragic incident unfolded where a husband slaughtered his wife and five children, then attempted to take his own life inside his bakery.
The director of security in Fayoum received a notification from the Itsa police station about the murder of a housewife and her children in Al-Gharq village. Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect, who owned a bakery, killed his wife, Maha, and their children: Ahmed, Mohamed, Youssef, Alaa, and the twins, Moatasem and Bilal, before trying to commit suicide, but he was unsuccessful.
According to residents of Al-Gharq, "Imad" had resorted to using drugs, specifically “Strox,” and began to change over time, leading to increasing family disputes between him and his family.
One local resident shared details of the incident with "Cairo 24," stating that "a husband named Imad, who owns a bakery and lives in Al-Gharq, slaughtered his wife and children this morning due to family disputes under the influence of Strox."
He added that after killing his children and wife, he rushed to the bakery and tried to set it on fire in a suicide attempt, but he was rescued from death. This prompted locals to learn about the incident and its reasons, leading them to hand him over to the Itsa police for the authorities to take over and investigate.
A legal report has been filed in preparation for submission to the public prosecution for further investigation.
