Explosions in Kabul: Casualties Near Mosque Holding Funeral Prayer for Zabihullah Mujahid's Mother

An explosion outside a mosque in the Afghan capital, Kabul, on Sunday resulted in the deaths of several civilians, according to a Taliban spokesperson. Zabihullah Mujahid tweeted that the afternoon blast targeted a gathering of civilians near the entrance of the Eid Kah Mosque in Kabul, leading to multiple fatalities, though he did not provide further details. A funeral prayer was being held in the mosque that afternoon for Mujahid's mother, who passed away last week, as confirmed by the spokesperson on social media on Saturday, stating that "all people and friends are invited to attend," according to AFP. Ahmedullah, who works at a nearby shop, told AFP, "I heard the sound of an explosion near the Eid Kah Mosque followed by gunfire." He added, "Before the explosion, Taliban members had closed off the road for the funeral prayer for Zabihullah Mujahid's mother at the Eid Kah Mosque."
