Many people around the world suffer from high blood pressure, which can lead to serious health consequences that can be avoided by making some dietary adjustments and increasing the intake of a particular type of fruit. About one-third of adults in the UK experience high blood pressure, raising the risk of heart attacks and strokes. It is difficult to determine the likelihood of developing high blood pressure, making a balanced diet a wise health choice.
According to British newspaper "Express," nutrition expert Sarah Brewer has highlighted an easy way to protect against high blood pressure: consuming more avocados. Brewer notes that avocados are low in sodium and rich in magnesium and potassium. She advised those who do not like to eat this fruit to replace the cooking oil they use with avocado oil.
Brewer pointed out that studies have revealed significant benefits of avocados, such as lowering cholesterol levels due to plant sterols, soluble fiber, and antioxidants they provide. She added: "Avocados are low in sodium and provide potassium, calcium, magnesium, and vitamin E, all of which positively impact blood pressure control." She continued by saying: "Avocados are also a rich source of healthy fats, as up to 30% of the fruit's flesh consists of the same monounsaturated fats found in olive oil."
