Russia, China, and Iran to Conduct Joint Military Exercises in Oman Gulf

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its forces, along with their Chinese and Iranian counterparts, will be conducting joint naval military exercises in the waters of the Oman Gulf from January 18 to 22. The ministry stated in a press release today, "From January 18 to 22 of this year, joint naval military exercises between Russia, China, and Iran, named CHIRU-2Q22, will be held in the Oman Gulf and the airspace above it." The ministry clarified that the Russian side is represented in these exercises by a group of ships from the Pacific Fleet, including the missile cruiser "Varyag," the large anti-submarine ship "Admiral Tributs," and the large naval tanker "Boris Butoma."
