Suf Nabil Responds to Criticism Following Controversial Comments

Iraqi artist Suf Nabil has addressed the backlash he faced in recent hours after a video surfaced where he criticized the weight of a contestant from the show "Iraq Idol."

During the program, Suf commented that he did not wish to hurt anyone, stating, "I was shy to one day tell you (Dlal) to eat a little less. Bravo on the report, I saw you reconciled with yourself and said you would lose some weight." He added, "An artist at this time is a package; their voice is important, but their image is very important in front of the audience. I hope that by the end of the prime, I see you becoming a stunning bride."

After the criticism he received, Suf clarified in statements, saying: "I never criticized her. I saw in the report that she was the one who said she wanted to lose weight and that she consulted a nutritionist. So I encouraged her on the program to manage this issue; it is not wrong at all for a person to be healthy and to have a nice body. It is not wrong at all to be how one wants; we support the person who wants to and encourage them."

The public expressed their anger towards the clip circulated on social media, pointing out that he came to the program to evaluate the singing of the contestants and their voices only, not to comment on their physical appearance. The clip sparked widespread reactions and negative tweets directed at him.

Iraqi artist Suf Nabil is a judge on the "Iraq Idol" program, which airs on MBC Iraq, alongside artists Hatem Al-Iraqi and Rahma Riyad.

It is noteworthy that Suf Nabil's latest work is the song "Fdouh Arwh Ani," which he recently released on his YouTube channel. The song is composed by him, with lyrics by Mohammed Al-Jabouri, and the music video directed by Hussein Shalaan.
