The election results for the Board of Directors of the Eastern Chamber of Commerce in Saudi Arabia, which took place last week, revealed that a businesswoman has won a seat on a board that has never previously had female participation. The committee overseeing the elections for the 19th session (1443-1447 Hijri) announced the results, which resulted in the victory of nine candidates. Hammad Al-Hamad secured the first position with 5,464 votes. Businesswoman Agharid Ihsan Abduljawad received 5,026 votes, placing second and becoming one of the nine elected members of the 18-person board. This marks her as the first woman to win a seat in the Eastern Chamber's elections for commercial chambers. The young Saudi businesswoman has received a flood of congratulations and has been celebrated by local media in the Kingdom.
