Saudi King Dismisses Director of Public Security and Refers Him for Investigation on Corruption Charges

The Saudi Press Agency reported today, Tuesday, that King Salman bin Abdulaziz issued a royal decree relieving Major General Khalid bin Qarar al-Harbi from his position and referring him for investigation on corruption charges. The allegations include "embezzlement of public funds and personal gain, forgery, bribery, and abuse of power," as stated by the agency.

Below is the text of the royal decree:

Date: 30 / 1 / 1443 AH

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,

We, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud,

King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,

and the Supreme Commander of all military forces,

After reviewing the officers' service system, issued by royal decree No. (M / 43) dated 28 / 8 / 1393 AH, and its amendments.

And after reviewing royal decree No. (A / 165) dated 20 / 4 / 1440 AH.

And based on what was submitted by the concerned authority regarding the commission of Major General Khalid bin Qarar al-Harbi of numerous violations aimed at embezzling public funds and personal gain, and referring to his commission of several crimes, including forgery, bribery, and abuse of power, in collaboration with eighteen individuals from the public and private sectors.

We hereby decree the following:

First: Service of Major General Khalid bin Qarar bin Ghanem al-Harbi, Director of Public Security, is terminated and he is retired with a referral for investigation.

Second: The Control and Anti-Corruption Authority will complete the investigation procedures with everyone connected to this matter and take the necessary legal actions against them.

Third: This decree shall be communicated to the relevant authorities for approval and implementation.
