Title: Criticism of COVID-19 Crisis Management in Lebanon

Deputy Head of the Association of Private Hospitals, Deputy Fadi Alama, criticized the management of the COVID-19 crisis in Lebanon.

In a statement to "Voice of Lebanon" radio, Alama said that "the management of the COVID-19 crisis has not been correct from the beginning," pointing out that "the confusion in decision-making among committees has led to several problems, including field hospitals, economic pressure on hospitals, the possibility of their closure afterward, and a shortage of medical staff."

Alama explained that "the inability to support private hospitals prevented them from being designated solely for treating COVID-19 patients, as official bodies neglected the private sector and supported the public sector, which comprises only 20% of the healthcare sector." He emphasized that "the beginning of the solution to the health crisis and all crises is the formation of a government capable of securing external support, as the path ahead is difficult while waiting for the vaccine."

It is worth noting that COVID-19 cases have exceeded 250,000 amid the incapacity of Lebanese health authorities to manage the widespread virus.
