With the arrival of spring, many housewives wish to conduct a thorough cleaning of their homes and are looking for the best natural ways to restore cleanliness. In an interview with the British newspaper Express, cleaning expert Lisa from The Grand Hotel, York, shared some of the best spring cleaning techniques that can speed up the process and save you money when doing household chores:
**Using Vinegar and Lemon to Clean the Microwave**
According to Lisa, a mixture of vinegar and lemon can work wonders for removing stubborn dirt inside the microwave. Lisa explained, "You can make it easier to remove built-up grime by heating a cup of water with several tablespoons of vinegar and chopped lemon until the microwave window is saturated with steam. Leave the bowl for five minutes before opening the door and easily wipe the microwave clean."
**Using White Vinegar to Polish Glasses**
Sometimes, glasses may appear "cloudy" regardless of how much they are washed, and according to Lisa, this may be due to the minerals in the water. She explained, "Remove the film that can accumulate due to hard water minerals by soaking the dishes in white vinegar for five minutes, then rinsing and drying them with a microfiber cloth."
**Making a Chemical-Free All-Purpose Cleaner for Surfaces**
You don’t necessarily have to rush out to buy a good all-purpose cleaner – you may have all the ingredients hidden at home. Lisa said, "Mix 3 tablespoons of baking soda with a quarter cup of warm water and wipe surfaces with a sponge for clean and shiny surfaces."
**Cleaning Light Switches with Water and Soap**
Light switches are a high-traffic area in your home and can get dirty over time. However, they can be easily cleaned using just two ingredients. Lisa suggested, "Use warm soapy water to dampen a soft cotton cloth to wipe away any stains or fingerprints and polish the metal with a dry cloth."
**Using Natural Methods to Clean Glass in the Bathroom**
For those with a glass shower door, keeping it clean can be a daunting task. However, according to Lisa, combining three natural ingredients is a suitable way to do this. She explained, "The mixture of baking soda, salt, and vinegar has been tried for years. First, spray vinegar on the bathroom glass, leave it for a few moments, then mix equal parts of baking soda and salt to make a paste. Use a wet sponge or cloth to scrub this paste on the surfaces and rinse well."
