Displaced Persons Camp... and a Huge Threat to Water Resources

The National Authority for the Litani River announced in a statement that its teams have detected the establishment of a large camp for Syrian displaced persons in the Sourfen area, on property overlooking the main highway from Sidon to Tyre, adjacent to the Qasmiyah irrigation project. It indicated that this camp, in addition to its social and security harms, poses a huge threat to water resources and the Qasmiyah irrigation project. It called for "security forces to halt the establishment of the camp, especially as it comes at a time when there are attempts to exploit and trade the return of the displaced by concerned parties."
