As the Israeli occupation authorities continue their barbaric actions against Palestinian lands and properties, the French government condemned today, Tuesday, the intention of Israeli authorities to build 800 housing units for settlers in the occupied West Bank.
In a statement, the French Foreign Ministry urged Tel Aviv to abandon the construction plan, as reported by "Reuters." The French Foreign Ministry also called on both Israel and Palestine to refrain from any unilateral actions that could jeopardize the international law-based two-state solution.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office announced yesterday, Monday, the construction of approximately 800 housing units in the settlements of Beit El, Givat Ze'ev east of Jerusalem, Tel Menashe, Rehalim, Shavei Shomron, Barkan, and Karnei Shomron in northern West Bank.
Israel is attempting to push forward its settlement projects as much as possible before the inauguration of elected President Joe Biden, who has criticized Israeli settlement policies multiple times. While most countries in the world consider Israeli settlements on Palestinian lands as illegally occupied, Palestinian entities have warned of dozens of settlement projects being rapidly implemented to impose a new reality on the ground in the remaining time before power transitions in the United States from outgoing President Donald Trump, who supports settlement expansion, to the newly elected President Joe Biden.
