In the capital Khartoum and several Sudanese states, new protests demanding the transfer of power to civilians will take place on Thursday. The protests coincide with the third anniversary of the June 30, 2019, Million Man March, which was a pivotal moment in reaching a political agreement between the military and civilians following the fall of Omar Bashir's regime.
The Resistance Committees in Khartoum have designated the presidential palace as a common destination for the protests, which they have named "Million Man March of Dawn of Salvation" to achieve five goals, the foremost being the formation of a civilian government. Furthermore, the security committee of Khartoum State, which has announced the closure of all bridges linking the cities of the capital except for the “Al-Halfaya and Soba” bridges, called on protesters in statements to "Al-Arabiya" to adhere to peacefulness and not allow saboteurs to infiltrate their ranks, warning them against approaching sovereign sites. The police forces have also declared their commitment to protecting peaceful protests and exercising restraint while maintaining the right to legitimate defense, urging protest leaders to adhere to democratic, peaceful expression in public spaces and squares.
Several political parties and forces in Sudan, led by the Communist Party and those affiliated with the Central Council for Freedom and Change alliance, have also called for participation in the protests.
