In this match, Al Ahly managed to secure the bronze medal by winning against Palmeiras in a penalty shootout with a score of 3-2, after the regular time ended in a goalless draw. The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) congratulated Al Ahly on winning the bronze medal and finishing in third place in the Club World Cup.
FIFA wrote on its social media account "Twitter": "Congratulations to Al Ahly for winning third place in the FIFA Club World Cup at the expense of Palmeiras."
FIFA also highlighted the performance of goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy, who saved two penalty kicks during the match, leading Al Ahly to achieve third place in the Club World Cup. It is noteworthy that Al Ahly succeeded in securing the third place for the second time in its history in the Club World Cup after the 2006 edition.
