The Faculty of Science - First Branch dominated the top positions in the Lebanese University Fast Chess Championship, which was held in one of its halls at the President Rafic Hariri University Campus in Hadat. The event featured 16 players who previously ranked in other tournaments, each having accumulated 3 points or more. They represented various faculties, including Law, Science, Engineering, General Medicine, Business Administration, Fine Arts, and Architecture from different branches.
The championship included 5 rounds, each lasting 10 minutes plus an additional 3 seconds for each move. As a result, Ali Hosseini (Science - First Branch) secured the individual title with 4.5 points, followed by Ali Tarmas (Science - First Branch) with 4 points. Coming in third were Hassan Dabbaja (Science - First Branch) and Tarek Hafiz (Business Administration - First Branch) with 3.5 points each. The organization was overseen by the International Arbiter Elias Khairallah, with assistance from coach Amira Yaghi, and the championship was inaugurated in the presence of Yusuf Al-Zain, the sports activities coordinator for the first branches.
On another note, the First Branch Basketball Championship will kick off on Tuesday, June 28, at the sports complex in Hadat, under the supervision of Amira Yaghi, Hussein Issa, and Yusuf Said.
