Social media users and news pages in Egypt have circulated images of an animal described as "strange," causing widespread panic. According to "Masrawy," a source in Ismailia Governorate revealed that "the pictures of the 'strange creature' being widely shared on social media were taken in the village of Abu Omar, part of the Abu Suwir district in Ismailia Governorate." The source noted that "upon examining the circulated images, it was determined that the animal is merely a dog suffering from mange."
The network "Masrawy" quoted the source stating that "the dog is in an advanced stage of the disease and is not a strange creature as described by users on social media." The source further warned against "approaching this animal or touching its skin, as the disease it suffers from can be transmitted to humans and may cause contamination."
Additionally, the source mentioned to "Masrawy" that "urgent instructions have been issued to the Abu Suwir veterinary administration to quickly intervene to examine and treat this sick dog while ensuring its isolation from citizens and children to protect them and avoid transmission of the disease."
