In a tragic story, a Saudi father and his daughter died after floodwaters swept away their vehicle while they were returning home from school in the Asir region of Balqarn Governorate. Civil defense teams at the Shuwas center found the body of the female student this morning, with a circulating video capturing the submerged vehicle.
The deceased student's brother, Saadi Ghassab, told "Al Arabiya.net" that his sister Mona was 15 years old and in the third year of middle school. He added, "I was worried about the distance from the family home, which is 10 km away, and I felt very anxious when I saw the rain intensify, especially with the presence of dangerous valleys. At that time, I asked my father not to take Mona to school, but he insisted on taking her to complete her exam."
He continued, "In the morning, due to my fear, I called the school guard and asked him to allow her to leave with my father at eight in the morning, but he refused to let her leave before ten. The rain had intensified by then, so I remained anxious and attempted to contact my father and sister to ensure they were close to home."
Saadi expressed his ongoing worry: "The anxiety didn't leave me throughout that time; my father is old and did not pay attention to the valley. When I confirmed that they had not arrived home, I rushed to see the car floating in the water, about 500 meters away. I tried, along with some young men from the village, to pull the car and tie it to a tree, but we only found my sister's body on Monday morning at ten."
It is noteworthy that the control and directing center of the Civil Defense Administration in Balqarn received a report yesterday morning about a person being trapped inside his car in the Admah Valley, related to the Shuwas center. Immediately, the necessary teams were dispatched to the site. Upon arrival, the teams retrieved the father's body and handed it over to the relevant authorities, while the search for his daughter continued until they found her body this morning and handed it over to the appropriate authorities.
