The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement:
As part of the ongoing efforts by the Information Division to combat all types of crimes in various Lebanese regions, and after receiving information about an unidentified individual placing a taxi sign on his Nissan car with a private plate and harassing girls who rode with him on the south - Beirut route, engaging in acts contrary to public morals inside the vehicle, orders were given to the division to identify and arrest him.
As a result of the follow-up, the division was able to identify him as M.A. (born in 1984, Lebanese), with a criminal record for robbery and drug-related offenses. On June 21, 2022, after a precise monitoring operation, a team from the division arrested him in the vicinity of Deir Zahrani and seized the car used for the sexual harassment activities.
During the investigation, he confessed to the charges against him, stating that he had repeatedly picked up girls in his car, deceiving them into believing he was a taxi driver, and harassing them, committing acts contrary to modesty. The appropriate legal measures were taken against him, and he was referred to the competent authority based on judicial instructions.
