Zara Withdraws Ads and Apologizes to the Public

The fashion company Zara announced today, Tuesday, that it regrets "the misunderstanding caused by an advertising campaign featuring models with missing limbs and statues wrapped in white," which has led to calls for a boycott initiated by activists supporting Palestinians. Zara stated in a post on its Instagram account: "Unfortunately, some customers felt disturbed by these images, which have now been removed, and saw something far from what was intended when they were produced." The company added: "Zara regrets this misunderstanding and reiterates its deep respect for everyone." Six posts related to the campaign have been removed from Zara's Instagram page. Zara noted at the launch of the collection on December 7 that it was inspired by men's tailoring from centuries past. The account has seen tens of thousands of comments about the images, many of which include Palestinian flags, while the hashtag "#BoycottZara" has become one of the most trending on the platform X. Critics have said that the images resemble bodies wrapped in white shrouds in Gaza.
