The esteemed scholar Sheikh Saleh bin Muhammad Al-Luhaidan, a member of the Senior Scholars Authority in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and former president of the Supreme Judicial Council, passed away this morning at the age of nearly 90. May Allah have mercy on him and grant him paradise. The late Sheikh had suffered a health crisis in the middle of last month, which led to his admission to intensive care at a hospital in the capital, Riyadh.
Sheikh Saleh Al-Luhaidan was born in the city of Buraidah in the Qassim region in 1931 and graduated from the Sharia College in Riyadh in 1959. His name is closely associated with the Saudi judiciary, having served as president of the General Court in Riyadh and as a member of the High Judicial Authority before assuming the presidency of the Permanent Committee in the Supreme Judicial Council in 1982. In 1992, he became the president of both the General and Permanent Committee of the council and has also been a member of the Senior Scholars Authority since its establishment in 1971.
