Western Sector Commander in UNIFIL: Lebanon's Stability is an Indicator for the Middle East

The commander of the Western Sector of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, General Massimiliano Stecca, affirmed that "Lebanon is always an indicator of stability for the entire Middle East," according to the Italian news agency "Nova."

The Western Sector, led by Italy and currently stationed at the "Pietro Del Freuli Cavalry" brigade, emphasizes that "Lebanon has always been a crossroads and is also an indicator of stability for the entire Middle East."

Stecca noted in his office at the Italian battalion base in Bet Shama, that "when the Middle East is stable, Lebanon is stable; when the Middle East is troubled, Lebanon explodes." He explained that "in this chessboard, the UNIFIL mission has preferred unity by achieving and maintaining this stability and the alternating balances, which are interspersed with moments of escalating tension."

He stressed that "the Italian blue helmet battalion maintains the balance in this part of the world that positively affects the region" and confirmed that "stability and any tension in Lebanon reverberates in Israel and, from there, has a multiplying effect on the entire Middle East."
