After Barcelona Divorce: PSG Prepares Financial Plan to Sign Messi

The French newspaper "Le Parisien" reported on Friday that officials from Paris Saint-Germain, a competitor in French football, are preparing a financial plan in anticipation of signing Argentine player Lionel Messi, who has parted ways with Barcelona. The newspaper added on its website that Messi's team has contacted PSG about a possible transfer of the Argentine player to the French capital club.

The announcement of Messi's departure from Barcelona came two months after the statements made by Joan Laporta, the president of the Catalan club, regarding the continuity of the "little flea" and the extension of his contract after agreeing to a pay cut. However, "Barça" surprised everyone by revealing financial and structural obstacles related to La Liga regulations that prevented "the flea" from staying with the team.

Spanish media talked about the behind-the-scenes of the "night of sorrow" in Catalonia and the departure of the Argentine legend from "Camp Nou," where "Cuatro" Spanish radio indicated that Messi was set to sign the renewal contract with Barcelona on Wednesday or Thursday. Earlier, "Le Parisien" mentioned that photos of Messi during his recent vacation in Ibiza with PSG stars Neymar, Di Maria, Paredes, and Verratti would fuel rumors about the Argentine star's move to Ligue 1.

According to Spanish sources, La Liga imposes a salary cap for players, with Barcelona's salary ceiling set at 350 million euros annually, which they must not exceed. This situation posed an insurmountable barrier, especially with Messi's hefty salary and the failure of the Catalan club to offload other high-earning stars.
