The United Arab Emirates and the Emirates Red Crescent, in cooperation with the "Lebanese Food Bank" and in coordination with the "Be My Friend" Association, provided assistance distributed to civil defense personnel at five centers in Akkar.
According to the National News Agency, the president of the association, Shadia Al-Hassan, expressed gratitude to the United Arab Emirates for its "generosity towards the Lebanese people, especially in these extremely difficult circumstances." She also thanked the bank for its care for Akkar and its people, considering that there are many families suffering from poverty. She pointed out that "this donation was given to civil defense volunteers and personnel for the sacrifices, tremendous efforts, and attention they provide without compensation, as they are the most in need of these donations."
The United Arab Emirates continues to provide various types of support to Lebanon, having donated 40 educational tablets to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) office in Beirut at the end of last year to enhance the capacities of the Lebanese educational system in facing the challenges of remote learning.
