Morocco insists on giving high importance to its normalization relations with the Israeli enemy. In appreciation of U.S. President Donald Trump's efforts in reaching the normalization agreement, Morocco presented him with its highest honor, according to a senior source in the U.S. administration.
The Moroccan ambassador to the United States, Lalla Jamala Aloui, presented the "Mohammed Medal" to President Trump during a special ceremony held in the Oval Office, which is an award given only to heads of state, and was presented as a gift from Moroccan King Mohammed VI. White House Senior Adviser Jared Kushner and U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Avi Berkowitz also received two additional awards for their work on the Israeli-Moroccan agreement reached in December, as reported by Reuters. According to a statement from the White House, "The Moroccan King's decision to resume relations with Israel has positively reshaped the landscape in the Middle East and North Africa." The statement added, "The Moroccan King has worked for more than two decades to strengthen the deep and lasting partnership with the United States in all areas."
