Huge Revenues for the Champions League: Who Gets the Biggest Share?

Teams participating in this season's UEFA Champions League have earned hundreds of millions of euros, with English club Liverpool securing the largest share, followed closely by Spanish club Real Madrid. The Spanish newspaper "Marca" reported that Real Madrid earned €105.34 million this season alone from the Champions League after defeating Paris Saint-Germain in the Round of 16, Chelsea in the quarter-finals, and Manchester City in the semi-finals, along with an additional €15.5 million for reaching the final.

In addition to earnings from qualification, teams also benefit from television broadcasting and audience attendance. The biggest beneficiary was Liverpool, which made €155.80 million from the competition. Liverpool and Real Madrid will compete for the final prize of €4.5 million, plus an additional €3.5 million for the winning team that will participate in the UEFA Super Cup.

The newspaper notes that Real Madrid and Liverpool are not the only teams to profit from the Champions League, as other clubs have also made substantial earnings. Villarreal, which was eliminated in the semi-finals, earned no less than €84 million, pending television earnings. Atlético Madrid, which was knocked out by Manchester City in the quarter-finals, accumulated a total of €63.27 million.
