The Ukrainian army posted a video depicting a "terrifying" Russian bombardment on a square in the city of Kharkiv, eastern Ukraine, on Tuesday morning. The army wrote on its Twitter page: "Kharkiv. March 1, 2022, 8 AM. Missiles launched from Russian positions against civilians."
The video, reportedly taken in the Sumskaya area of Kharkiv, shows a missile directly striking moving cars. Oleg Sinegubov, head of the Kharkiv region, stated that the Russian missile attacks hit the center of Ukraine's second-largest city, affecting residential areas and an administrative building, as the Russian invasion entered its sixth day.
Sinegubov mentioned that Russia fired "Grad" and "Cruise" missiles at Kharkiv and is "condemned for committing war crimes," but added that the city's defenses are holding firm. Many comments on the video noted that Russia is using "Grad" missiles to bombard civilian areas within Ukraine.
In a related context, more than 70 Ukrainian soldiers were killed in a Russian artillery attack on a military base in the city of Okhtyrka, located between Kharkiv and Kyiv, according to the regional governor on the Telegram app. Dmytro Zhyvytskyi mentioned in a Facebook post that several Russian soldiers and some local residents also died during the clashes that occurred on Sunday, as reported by the Associated Press.
