Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates, emphasized the country's ongoing effort to strengthen its relations with friendly nations and establish a foundation for sustainable cooperation. He concluded his discussions in London with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Thursday during an official visit that covered several regional and global issues of mutual interest.
In a tweet following the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed stated, "I had in-depth talks with the Prime Minister of Britain in the capital London about enhancing and developing our solid strategic relations, in addition to the most important issues of mutual concern in the Middle East." He added, "The UAE is moving forward in strengthening its relations with friendly countries and laying the foundations for sustainable cooperation and achieving common interests. Today, I witnessed the signing of several agreements and memorandums of understanding between our two countries in various fields with Prime Minister Boris Johnson."
Mubadala Investment Company announced that the UAE intends to invest ten billion pounds sterling (13.8 billion dollars) in Britain over the next five years in light of the long-standing trade relations between the two countries. Mubadala noted that investment in energy transfer, infrastructure, technology, and life sciences industries in Britain represents an expansion in the sovereign investment partnership with the UK Investment Office.
Earlier, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his accompanying delegation arrived at the Prime Minister's office in London for the official visit. Johnson welcomed Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed's visit to Britain, affirming that it represents strong support for the path of developing relations between the two countries.
