The Kuwaiti Ports Authority announced today that it plans to create the first city dedicated to serving electric vehicle manufacturers in the Middle East. In a press release, the Authority's Director General, Sheikh Yusuf Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, stated that the project will be put out for design and construction during the current fiscal year 2021-2022. However, the statement did not specify the location in Kuwait where the city, to be named the Electric Vehicle City, will be built.
The Director General mentioned that the Kuwaiti Ports Authority is capable of providing all necessary port and logistic services to major companies worldwide that manufacture electric vehicles. He highlighted that leading companies in the electric vehicle industry operate on a different business model, selling directly through their online platforms without relying on local agents or distributors.
He explained that the proposal aligns with the Ports Authority's strategic development plan for the coming years, both regionally and globally, and is in harmony with Kuwait's Vision 2035, aiming to transform it into an attractive financial and commercial investment hub.
