The latest image of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has raised questions about his health and significant weight loss. The photo of Kim was taken during the eighth Workers' Party conference and published by the Korean Central News Agency on Wednesday. In it, the North Korean leader is seen wearing a dark suit, a white shirt, and a silver tie.
According to South Korea's Yonhap news agency, Kim's shirt collar was not constricting, allowing space for a single finger, which is considered a basic rule for wearing a Western-style suit. This image contrasts with a picture of Kim taken on the 17th of last month, when he appeared at a memorial for his late father, Kim Jong Il, at the Sun Palace in Pyongyang. At that time, Kim was wearing the traditional attire known as the "people's dress," with his collar tightly fitted.
The South Korean agency noted that this appearance of Kim can be attributed to his weight loss, which remains excessive in relation to his height. The National Intelligence Service had stated last October that Kim had lost approximately 20 kilograms from 140 kilograms in 2019.
