Egyptian parliamentary representative and journalist specializing in Coptic affairs, Emad Khalil, denied the circulating news about the famous Egyptian footballer and Liverpool star, Mohamed Salah, donating 3 million pounds to the families of the victims of Al-Munira Church. Emad Khalil wrote on his Facebook page: "There are two things I would like to mention. First, the 30-second video of Father Abdel-Masih Bekhit, and this is a limited duration for which no one can determine responsibility for the incident. However, it is established from the testimonies of many that he continued to save people until he was martyred. The second thing is that Mohamed Salah’s position is noble as he offered condolences, but he did not donate to the victims."
Reports and news on social platforms emerged regarding Mohamed Salah allegedly donating money to assist the victims of the Abu Sifin Church fire, which occurred in "Imbaba" city, Giza governorate, last Sunday, resulting in the deaths of 41 people and injuries to others, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Health.
Egyptian media figure Ibrahim Abdel-Gawad tweeted: "Mohamed Salah donates 3 million pounds to the victims of Abu Sifin Church. Nothing new to tell or old to repeat."
Hours later, global media outlets, including the British newspaper "Mirror" and the American site "Bleacher Report," began to circulate the news. The "Mirror" titled its article on this subject: "Mohamed Salah generously donates to Egyptian church after fire kills 41." The "Bleacher Report" noted on its official Twitter page: "Mohamed Salah donated $156,634 to help rebuild a church in Egypt, where a fire killed 41 people last Sunday."
