Aya Youssef, a teacher from Dakahlia, stated that she was unaware someone was filming her while she was dancing on the Nile trip. She seeks the Egyptian law to punish the person who filmed her, commenting, "I will make him learn a lesson." During her appearance on the program "Cairo Talk," aired on "Cairo and the People" channel last Tuesday night, she mentioned receiving many calls from her relatives and colleagues at school informing her about the video, saying, "I was shocked when I saw the video on social media and the newspapers."
Aya Youssef acknowledged that her dancing movements were somewhat exaggerated, but they stemmed solely from joy. She revealed that her mother was hospitalized on the day the video went viral due to increased blood sugar levels caused by extreme distress. Her children kept asking her why her pictures were spread on television and Facebook, to which she replied, "I would hug them and cry because I had no answer."
She concluded her statements by noting that all those who appeared in the video have been referred for investigation, and they are awaiting a decision from the administrative prosecution. She emphasized that Nihad Abu Qumsan, the head of the Egyptian Center for Women's Rights, has expressed what she wanted to clarify to the public to defend herself against the psychological execution she has faced from society.
