Minister of Public Health Hamad Hassan has ordered an investigation regarding the refusal of Saint Therese Hospital in Hadath to admit a patient, which led to the patient's death.
The National News Agency reported that Minister Hassan instructed the relevant authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the patient's death, after the hospital refused to accept him. The minister's media office clarified that there will be an immediate termination of the contract with the hospital and that the case, along with the involved doctors, will be referred to judicial authorities if the investigation conducted by the Ministry of Public Health reveals any neglect in medical and humanitarian care.
It is noteworthy that Wael Abou Faour, a member of the Democratic Gathering, stated this evening that he urged the Minister of Health to investigate the incident involving the patient who died outside a hospital after being refused admission by two hospitals. He emphasized the need for the harshest punitive measures, as the principles of medicine should prevail over commercial interests. Abou Faour questioned the rationale behind closing the emergency door to a patient, regardless of the circumstances, and asked if it is permissible to leave a patient suffering a heart crisis to die at the hospital entrance.
