Lebanon: Has the French Initiative for Resolution Begun?

The newspaper "Al-Jomhouria" has reported that the French initiative has indeed started, marked by a series of intense communications in recent hours involving those concerned with the Lebanese file at the Élysée, along with several political figures.

Reliable sources hinted at the presence of French President Emmanuel Macron's advisor, Patrick Durel, in these communications, revealing a serious and vigorous French effort. The French have proposed a set of ideas and suggestions aimed at reopening the blocked governmental pathways. President Michel Aoun received a phone call from President Emmanuel Macron, during which they discussed the current situation and the status of forming the anticipated government.

Earlier media reports disclosed France's intention to take action to find a solution to the crisis in Lebanon, indicating a French urgency to reopen the Lebanese file. This is reflected in Macron's call to Saudi Arabia not to abandon Lebanon, as well as his eagerness to address the Lebanese issue during his conversation with U.S. President Joe Biden.
