Title: Customs Dollar Increases Prices by 30%

The Minister of Economy in the caretaker government, Amin Salam, indicated that "the title of our government has been 'Together for Rescue' and when we took over our duties, we were aware that we were taking on a 'burning ball', but in practice, we discover that previous governments continued to make wrong decisions and policies." Salam confirmed in an interview with MTV that "the goals we set have been achieved and no one stood in our way," considering that "the state cannot continue with the dollar at 1,500 Lebanese Lira, and I am convinced that the customs dollar should increase, but gradually." He said, "We are trying to work on reducing the percentage to half or 5 percent while raising the customs dollar, and if the customs dollar is raised to 20,000, prices will increase by 20 to 30 percent," emphasizing that "the state has not taken strong measures to combat customs evasion." He also pointed out that "I have done significant work in the ministry that has not been highlighted due to our management of crises; had we not done the work we did in recent months, the situation would have been worse, and today, the Ministry of Economy is taken into serious consideration."
