Starting today, Thursday, the localization of jobs in three sectors in Saudi Arabia begins: customs clearance professions, driving schools, and engineering technical professions, in accordance with the objectives of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, following the end of the implementation period for the three decisions. The localization of customs clearance professions aims to raise the localization rate to 100% in the targeted professions by focusing on localizing 2,000 jobs.
The procedural guide specifies the localization of positions such as customs clearance writer, customs officer, customs clearance mediator, translator, general manager, and government relations officer. According to the procedural guide for localizing driving instruction professions, it is required that the monthly salary registered with social insurance subject to subscription must not be less than the minimum wage of 5,000 Riyals to count the Saudi employee in the imposed localization percentage.
The Human Resources Development Fund (Hadaf) launched the "Training and Localization Support Program in Driving Schools" aimed at training and qualifying job seekers for driving instruction positions to fill an expected 8,000 jobs in driving schools. The localization of engineering technical professions includes all professions classified as engineering technical professions according to the occupational classification approved by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development. This decision applies to all private sector establishments operating in the Saudi market that employ five or more workers in the targeted engineering technical professions.
To be counted as a Saudi technician in the required localization percentage, the registered monthly salary with social insurance must not be less than 5,000 Riyals, and Saudi technicians earning less than this amount will not be included in the localization percentage. In 2021, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development in Saudi Arabia revealed the localization of 20 professions and activities in several sectors and created more than 378,000 jobs for job seekers.
