The Spanish newspaper "El Mundo del Siglo XXI" featured the headline "The Pharaoh Contract That Destroys Barcelona," highlighting the figure of 555,237,619 euros.
The report stated that Argentine star Lionel Messi has received around 138 million euros per season since 2017, along with additional bonuses split between fixed and variable amounts. The contract includes two bonuses: one for renewing (115.225 million euros) and another for his loyalty to the team (77.929 million euros).
Captain Messi has already received 92% of the contract's value, despite Barcelona’s poor performance in recent years, particularly in the UEFA Champions League, where he earned the highest bonuses. The newspaper added that from the start of his contract in the 2017-2018 season until its conclusion in June, Messi is set to earn over half a billion euros, specifically 555,237,619 euros, which includes his fixed salary and image rights, along with numerous unpublished bonuses worth millions and various other incentives based on different targets.
