Drowning Incident Ends Life of Former Intelligence Director

The former head of the Ukrainian intelligence service drowned at a beach located in the Gulf of Aqaba, along the coast of Dahab in South Sinai. On Friday, General Ahmed El-Alfi, the director of South Sinai security, received a report from General Mohamed El-Anany, the head of the criminal investigations department, regarding the discovery of the body of Viktor Khvodud, a 62-year-old Ukrainian national, who was found drowned after attempting to go on a diving trip at one of the tourist villages.

It was also revealed that the deceased, born on May 24, 1959, had served as the head of the Ukrainian intelligence agency and had been residing in Dahab in South Sinai for a period, working at a diving center in the city, known among locals as "Adventure."

A medical source in South Sinai indicated that the deceased was brought to Dahab General Hospital on Friday afternoon. Initial examinations suggested that the cause of death was drowning asphyxia, and there are no indications of foul play involved in his death. Additionally, the Ukrainian embassy in Cairo was notified of the incident, and the public prosecutor in South Sinai ordered an investigation into the matter, appointing forensic experts to the Dahab hospital to determine the cause of death.
