The first phase of the parliamentary elections for Lebanese expatriates, totaling 30,929 voters, has concluded. They were distributed across ten Arab and Gulf countries in addition to Iran. Following the closure of the polling stations, Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib announced that "the turnout rate was approximately 59 percent, with 18,225 votes cast, which is a significant number for ten countries." Bou Habib stated that "the highest turnout was in Syria at 84 percent, followed by Tehran at 74 percent, then Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman at 66 percent, Jordan at 60 percent, Saudi Arabia at 49 percent, Baghdad at 48 percent, Cairo at 42 percent, and Alexandria at 58 percent."
He confirmed that "all issues that arose were resolved immediately, and nothing interrupted the electoral process. The ballot boxes were sealed with red wax, and there’s GPS inside them. If there is any irregularity, it will be detectable." In response to a question, he said: "We are a means for the Ministry of Interior to conduct elections abroad, as we have diplomats and a presence abroad. The best way to respond to rumors is to perform the work as it should be done."
