Israel Launches Urgent Investigation into "Settler" Infiltration into Syria

Israel Launches Urgent Investigation into

The Israeli army has opened a wide investigation into how an Israeli "woman" infiltrated the border fence in the occupied Golan Heights and entered Syrian territory.

The Hebrew website "Walla" reported yesterday evening that an Israeli "woman" – believed to be a girl – crossed the Israeli-Syrian border about two weeks ago in an area where crossing is easier, and from there she walked toward Syrian territory, potentially directly from the Quneitra area.

The Syrian News Agency (SANA) announced the release of two Syrian prisoners from the Quneitra region from occupation jails. The agency quoted informed sources saying that the released prisoners are Muhammad Hussein and Tarek Al-Abidan, noting that their release was "a continuation of the exchange process that began yesterday with Russian mediation," confirming they have returned to their towns in Quneitra province.

The agency added that the release is part of the Syrian state's efforts to free its citizens from Israeli occupation jails. Prior to this, the Syrian prisoner Nahal Al-Maqd was released as part of the same operation, which also included the release of an Israeli girl who had entered Syrian territory in the Quneitra area through the Palestinian-Syrian border and was arrested by Syrian authorities.
