Diplomatic website reported on an American source: There is a possibility that President Joe Biden will announce his intention to return to the nuclear agreement today.
The website conveyed, in an article about a consulting source in the U.S. administration, that President Biden may announce his intention to return to the Iranian nuclear agreement during his speech at the Global Security Conference on February 19 in Munich. This comes alongside an announcement from the White House stating that "the United States is working closely with allies to communicate and coordinate about the future of the nuclear agreement."
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken met via satellite with the foreign ministers of France, Britain, and Germany, with the meeting primarily focusing on Iran and regional security in the Middle East. A statement from the European-American trio confirmed the shared goal of bringing Iran back to full compliance with its commitments.
Earlier, Reuters reported that the Biden administration had sent a message to the UN Security Council informing it of the withdrawal of former President Donald Trump's declaration regarding the reimposition of all UN sanctions on Iran. Reuters added, citing a U.S. official, that Washington would accept an invitation from the European Union to hold talks with Iran. It revealed that the Iranian UN mission was informed that travel restrictions on Iranian diplomats would be eased.
In response, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stated on Thursday that Iran's actions regarding the suspension of the Additional Protocol and the reduction of inspections related to the nuclear agreement are a "reaction to the violations by Washington and the European troika," adding that the European Union should fulfill its obligations instead of philosophical discussions and placing the blame on Iran.
