NASA Begins Scientific Study of Unidentified Flying Objects

The American agency "NASA" has announced that it is officially starting a scientific study of what is called "unidentified aerial phenomena." This was stated in a release published by the agency on Thursday, June 9. NASA said it considers scientific tools a powerful means for any study. Tom Zurbuchen, NASA's Deputy Administrator for Science, noted, "We have a wide range of Earth observation tools from space, which provides a solid foundation for the study, and we also have a capable team of specialists to help us understand obscure phenomena."

According to NASA, unidentified aerial phenomena are observed atmospheric events that cannot be identified as known aircraft or natural occurrences. Additionally, NASA pointed out that it currently has no evidence suggesting an external origin for these aerial phenomena.

American astrophysicist David Spergel has been appointed to lead the team that will study the unidentified flying objects. The study is expected to result in a report that will be presented to the public.

It is worth noting that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence revealed in June 2019 a non-classified version of a report submitted to the U.S. Congress regarding the observation of unidentified flying objects. The report confirmed that U.S. intelligence cannot currently explain the nature of the unidentified flying objects. It included information on unidentified aerial phenomena recorded between November 2004 and March 2021, totaling 144 instances, with 80 of those observed using sensors or devices.
