The Central Council of the Central Bank of Lebanon is convening exceptionally today, instead of Wednesday, due to the Eid al-Adha holiday which prevented the distribution of the meeting's agenda 48 hours in advance. The agenda includes several important items. According to MTV, among these items is the decision to abolish the use of bank cards for payments in "lollar," meaning US dollars that are not "fresh." As a result, the use of bank cards for purchases will be limited to the Lebanese pound or cash dollars. This decision will take effect immediately upon its adoption, noting that several institutions, including most supermarkets, have stopped accepting bank cards for "lollar" payments for about a week now.
